DHP has helped me a lot especially during Corona times to keep and expand asocial life. I met new people and we also met outside DHP for coffee or an aperitif.
Senior
I enjoy becoming more familiar with other cultures. And I exchange ideas both at the round table and with my tandem.
Immigrant
The elderly are very nice and they have very interesting life stories to tell.

Why it's important that we exist
The Hello Project solves three social problems:
Loneliness, Social Isolation, Insufficient Integration.
Munich has approximately 29% foreign residents. Many speak English or other languages in their jobs and thus rarely use their German skills despite language classes.
Over 22% of Munich residents are over 65 years old. Many have no family or acquaintances in the immediate vicinity and spend much of their time alone. Others have a low pension and can only participate in social activities to a limited extent.
Our Story
Lisi Brizuela is our founder. She is originally from a small town in the Argentine part of Patagonia. In Buenos Aires she studied International Relations and volunteered in different Argentinean non-profit organizations. When she came to Germany in 2013, she wanted to get socially involved here as well. When she realized from her personal experience the challenges immigrants face in integrating and at the same time the social isolation that both seniors and immigrants experience, she wanted to do something about it. This is how she came up with the idea for The Hello Project. Through the project, she wanted to bring together two very different groups through an intercultural and intergenerational exchange to ensure active integration, combat loneliness and promote mutual support.
